1. Chinese Economists forum 50

Chinese Economists 50 Forum (“50 Forum”) was created by established Chinese economists who shared common vision of devoting their intelligence to researches of China’s economic issues, in June 1998, Beijing, China. 50 Forum is an independent research entity based in Beijing, China, that gathers the most famous and reputable Chinese economists who exchange ideas and present their academic researches to the public.

50 Forum insists the principle of public interests and academic nature. It organizes academic activities, such as “50 Forum Annual Meeting Event”, “Economic Policy Seminar”, “50 Forum Seminar Events”, “Advanced Seminar on Economic Theories”, and academic trips, etc.

The vision of 50 Forum: to contribute to important issues in China’s modernization and economic development and reform.

The purpose of activities of 50 Forum: to invite researchers to exchange and communicate their researches to audience beyond academic circles and to the public, hoping that the works can combine theoretical research with policy solutions for China’s economic development, and further more to help China’s economic reforms and industrial development with intellectual outputs. 

50 Forum has become an important platform for Chinese economists to discuss social and economic development issues, attracting observations from home and abroad. Some of China’s government organizations often consult with 50 Forum when they make economic policies and listen to opinions and discussions of 50 Forum researchers on important economic issues. 

 

 

2. 50 Forum Academic Auditing Committee

50 Forum Academic Auditing Committee (AAC) is the top-level leadership body of Chinese Economists 50 Forum. It is elected by all members of 50 Forum via anonymous voting. AAC is responsible for the plans and guidance of activates of 50 Forum. The current AAC members include: Wu Jinglian (Mr.), Fan Gang (Mr.), Liu He (Mr.), Lin Yifu (Mr.), Yi Gang (Mr.), Xu Shanda (Mr.), and Wu Xiaoling (Ms.). 

 

 

3. 50 Forum Annual Meeting

The 50 Forum Annual Meeting Event (AME) is the most important event of 50 Forum in every year. AME invites all members of 50 Forum and participants from senior government organizations, economic research institutes, enterprises and main stream mass media. The topic of every AME is selected by AAC with reference to the economic development and trends of the year. Participants present their researches and have free discussions on selected issues. The other tasks of AME include board review of the performance of 50 Forum in the past year and determine plans for next year.

AME was active and influential at home and abroad in the past few years by attracting most important participants from China and contributing to economic theoretical researches and development in China.

 

 

4. 50 Forum Seminar Events

The 50 Forum Seminar Events (FSE) is a regular activity of 50 Forum. It holds 3 to 4 times every year. The topics of FSE are selected by AAC. This is an internal platform and only opens to Forum members, members of 50 Forum Entrepreneurs’ Council (FEC), and invited participants. The purpose of this activity is to research on selected issues and analyze the causes and solutions to these issues. The results of FSE are published on “50 Forum Monthly Bulletin” (internal journal) and distributed to designated organizations. The research results and policy suggestions were highly praised by leaders and organizations of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and government.

 

 

5. Chang An Forum

Chang An Forum (CAF) is a regular activity focusing on economic policies, organized by 50 Forum in Beijing. It holds an open forum every other week ever since its first event in January 2001. CAF invites almost all famous and established scholars and experts from diversified economic theoretical backgrounds and policy applied fields to exchange and communicate their researches to the public. CAF provides an interactive platform for audience to discuss with speakers, which expands the breadth and depth of discussed issues. This interaction characteristics of CAF not only make participants understand latest information and new ideas of different fields, but also be conducive to speakers by getting direct feedbacks from peers and general public, which is helpful to them so that they can discover problems and improve their researches. CAF is an open and free-of-charge event for all participants. It has held more than 100 events and reached certain influence in China’s economic and policy research fields due to its academic and public interest nature. 

From March 2008, Chang-An Forum is updated to be “Chinese Economists 50 Forum—SINA Chang-An Forum”, which is the result of strategic cooperation between SINA and Chang-An Forum. The seminars of Chang-An Forum will be broadcasted regularly as live video programs on SINA website, which will certainly help the growth of coverage and influence of Chang-An Forum. 

 

 

6. 50 Forum Advanced Seminar

The 50 Forum Advanced Seminar (FAS) is a joint activity of 50 Forum and its partners, focusing on specific economic issues of China and the world. These seminars are held in different cities in China and invite economists from all China. FAS received appreciations from all walks of life for its events in Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Hangzhou, Qingdao, and New York City in USA.

 

 

7. 50 Forum Entrepreneurs’ Council

       The 50 Forum Entrepreneurs’ Council (FEC) is a body that connects famous Chinese entrepreneurs to 50 Forum. Members of FEC have strong awareness of social responsibility, willingness to participate in the discussion of macro-economic theories and policies and to sponsor the construction and development of 50 Forum. The participation of entrepreneurs in 50 Forum activities can help the communication between economic research groups and enterprises, the combination of theory and practice, and further more the exploration of practical paths to economic development and business growth in China. 

        Mr. Duan Yongji and Mr. Liu Chuanzhi are Moderators of 50 Forum Entrepreneurs’ Council (FEC).Mr. Lin Rongqiang is the Secretary-General of 50 Forum Entrepreneurs’ Council (FEC).
 

8. The Secretariat 

The Secretariat is a permanent executive body of 50 Forum. It administrates all kinds of routine operation of 50 Forum under the guidance of AAC, such as organization of meetings, seminars, accounting issues, public relations, maintenance of Forum’s website, etc..
